Mahelane Lodge is a remote resort located on the eastern banks of the
Uembje Lagoon and even though it is close to Bilene it has the feeling
of a secluded island. Mahelane Lodge offers a wide range of activities to choose from and
includes deep sea game fishing, open water diving, various water sports
and a unique play area for the children.
Mahelane Lodge consists of a shared main area and chalets all built up against a huge sand bank to ensure views across the lagoon. There are 2-bed, 4-bed and 6-bed chalets in Mahelane Lodge. Wooden walkways connect all the different areas and lead to the lagoon beach below. Over the dunes behind the lodge, a leisurely 20 minute walk will lead you to the wide open waters of the sea.
The restaurant has a big outside veranda where guests enjoy meals and appreciate the stretching views and awesome sunsets. Please take note that this is not a self-catering establishment and there are no areas to prepare or keep food.

At Macia, just after the BP Garage you turn right on a tarred road. Carry on straight for another 33 km’s until you drive straight into Bilene. You will get to a circle, go around the circle and pass the Motel on your left hand side. Carry on straight until you get to a T-junction and Carioca will be in front of you.
