Mozambique Big Game Fishing
Unspoilt and largely unexplored, the Indian Ocean with its deep Mozambique Channel harbours exciting game fish to catch - such as kingfish, queenfish, barracuda, mackerel and yellowfin tuna. Recreational and specialist anglers are increasingly attracted to the Bazaruto and Quirimbas Archipelagos to lure legendary species such as giant black marlin, sailfish or wahoo. Fishing is excellent all year round, with the main sailfish season being July to December and the prime marlin months being October to March
The Quirimbas Island Archipelago has been recognised as the world's best diving and fishing destination, and fishing a little further south in the Bazaruto Island Archipelago, and offshore from Inhambane is also a very rewarding fishing destination. Big game fishing and salt water fly fishing are both sports which serious anglers and those wishing to learn can enjoy in the waters offshore from Mozambique and trips can also be arranged for those experienced in spear fishing who bring their own equipment. Cahora Bassa Dam provides the perfect Lake/River Fishing location.
