Explore Gorongosa is a private ecotourism initiative in the Gorongosa
National Park. This unique set-up offer guided walking safaris, safari
drives and water-based activities and is the first private safari
operation in the Gorongosa National Park.
The semi-permanent tented camp moves three times annually to ensure the best safari conditions. Tents are spacious (15m²) and is all protected with mosquito netting. They come standard with twin, single or double bed en is contains a clothes rack, vanity table, suitcase stand and each tent has a spacious en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and basins. The showers are very quirky and are known as “wash-in-the-wild showers" because it is built outside, but in complete privacy. Large "window doors" open up to a shaded veranda where you can relax on your day bed or comfy chairs.
The more adventurous guests can opt for a few nights in their wilderness fly-camps (Gorongosa SkyBeds) - mobile tents that have a full view of the brilliant African sky.
Explore Gorongosa is a true wilderness experience not easily found in the world today. The team here hopes to restore 4000km² of wilderness back to its former glory. This in itself is deserves praise. Perhaps this is the way we should all be living - with no negative impact on the environment.
