Located eighty kilometres south of Inhambane, Dunes of Dovela is situated half-way between the Bazaruto and Limpopo National Parks. It is the perfect place to feel the energy blooming from the splendour of the Mozambican coast. This eco-lodge is a result of a four-year project which encompassed environmental as well as social factors. Social factors, as the lodge was built by the local people who acquired training, skills development and jobs, and environmental factors as the construction methods used ensures the preservation of the area; the building shapes conform to the landscape and locally produced products were and are used where possible. The aim of the lodge is to create a protected area to emphasise conservation and preservation of its distinctive, natural environment.
Dunes de Dovela pride themselves on providing their guests with a peaceable and restful stay. They have combined the sites beauty and serenity and integrated all ten of their well-spaced chalets into the surrounding vegetation; keeping in mind the safeguarding of the eco-system.
The bungalows are absolutely stunning; the calming ocean can be overlooked from your French windowed bedroom and a cooling sea breeze can be enjoyed from your private terrace. The bungalows are suited for two people, although two additional beds as well as a cot can fit in comfortably and are available on request. Get even closer to nature by staying in a tent on one of the five divided spaces the bush camp has to offer. The camps are set up in the coastal forest and perfect to take pleasure in its exquisiteness and diversity. The tents are equipped with a double bed, a single bed or two stretchers and the reputable showers overlook the site, ocean or stars!
The gorgeous site and surrounds is easily explored on foot. You are led from your bungalow or tent by a network of shaded paths to the delicious cuisine of the restaurant. The Dunes de Dovela hiking trails can also lead you to the surrounding villages where you will have the opportunity of meeting the local people and experience the daily life of a Mozambican. Day walking excursions or overnight stays with local families as well as overnights under the stars is also available.

Coming from Maputo, approximately 20km north of Inharrime, take the track on your right inside at the road sign 'Dunes de Dovela' then 12.5km of 4x4 sand track (follow the bush baby footprints).
