Start this tour in the beautiful capital city of Mozambique. Let the adventure begin en-route to Maputo Elephant Reserve. The Maputo Elephant Reserve is positioned 80km south of Mozambique’s capital, Maputo. The Maputo Elephant Reserve was also greatly affected during the Mozambican civil war. Pre war the reserve was well stocked with large numbers of elephant and rhino, however at the end of the war only 200 elephant and no rhino remained; as with all other Mozambique parks, the Maputo Elephant Reserve is slowly working on replenishing the population of these magnificent creatures.

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1 - Maputo Elephant Reserve
Tour guide to meet clients at the foyer of their Maputo hotel.

Depart from your hotel taking a packed breakfast with you. Cross the ferry to Catembe and continue to the Hindu Temple at Salamanga. From here we proceed to the Maputo Elephant Reserve and 4x4 terrain. There is prolific birdlife and hopefully you will see elephants, crocodiles, hippos, reed buck and Samango monkeys en route to Ponta Milibangalala. Lunch will be served at the beach or overlooking one of the many lakes and, time and weather permitting, there may be a chance for a swim at the coast. Transport is in a 4x4 vehicle with driver/guide.
