Lugenda Wilderness Camp is situated in the Niassa National Reserve in
northern Mozambique. The undiscovered wilderness area stretches 42 000
square kilometres and the camp was set up on the eastern bank for the
Lugenda river. In the distance you can see the imposing Ngolonje
Mountains.
The charm of Lugenda is that experienced safari guides take you on very personal trips through the African bush. They share their knowledge with you and point out the wildlife roaming in the area. The area is home to 3 recently discovered endemic species: the Niassa Wildebeest, Johnston's Impala and Boehm's Zebra. You might also be lucky enough to see leopard, lion and hippo!
Guests stay in luxurious semi-permanent east-African styled tents surrounded by a fig-tree forest. There are eight of these tents and each one has double doors leading onto a private porch.
Cool of in the swimming pool with stretching views across the wilderness. The shared guest area consists of a dining area, bar and intimate library.
This is one of the least explored areas in Africa and has imposing granite inselbergs and huge tracts of miombo woodland, roaming elephants and much, much more! This is not Big 5 country, but it offers fantastic birding and fauna and flora.
