Map of Quirimbas Islands Accommodation

Quirimbas Archipelago is an awe-inspiring destination stretching 200km parallel to Pemba mainland and comprised of 12 major offshore islands and around 20 smaller, coralline outcrops. These islands are strung along a dazzling coastline offering paradise-like beaches and an abundance of marine life. The Quirimbas Archipelago is situated about 2,500km from Maputo and is known for their unexplored and un-spoilt beaches and important island reef ecosystems. Quirimbas Archipelago is most easily reached from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

The Quirimbas Archipelago islands have world class resorts set on pristine beaches lined with palm trees and lush vegetation overlooking the crystal clear turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. This area is probably the last stretch of East African coastline where the marine environments and beaches are ecologically pristine and largely unexplored. Beach lodges are all smaller than the normal holiday resort hotel so rather than promising slick, first-world service these lodges focus on personal care in a laid back environment.

Most islands are uninhabited and all are blessed with white sandy beaches surrounded by a tropical Indian Ocean. These islands are also a ornithological paradise with abundant bird populations. This is a destination where you are unlikely to come across any other yachts while boating. The Quirimbas also offer abundant cultural exchanges where you could have the chance to experience the history and friendliness of the locals. The Quirimbas National Park is a conservation heaven boasting rich wildlife and protecting one of the richest areas of coral reef in the world.
