Vamizi Island is situated close to the Tanzanian border in the northern
section of the Quirimbas Archipelago. The island is small and houses
the resort and a scattering of local villages. The resort is known as
one of the top beach lodges in the Quirimbas Archipelago and perfectly
marries amazing rooms with a beautiful and remote location.
Vamizi is a high-quality and well looked after establishment that still maintains an unpretentious feel where relaxation is top-of-mind. The 10 Villas are spread far enough from each other to create a private space with a bedroom, veranda and en-suite bathroom. Windows are wooden and grass trellises and this enhances the open nature of these rooms that invite cold breezes to move through the space. These rooms are big (165m²) and stretches from the open-air showers at the back through to the outside lounge area. Here you can stretch out on a cane sofa, relax in comfy chairs or sunbathe on sun-loungers before diving into the ocean a few paces in front of you.
Honeymooners and romantic couples can look forward to very special treat of private dinners on remote beaches. There are two family villas with two bedrooms each with their own en-suite bathrooms.
Spend time in the spacious lounge and bar area, browsing through a selection of Marine books or enjoying a cocktail.
The Island is in the process of being designated as a “marine reserve” area and already has the biggest turtle conservation operation in East Africa.
