About Vamizi Island

Vamizi Island Lodge is an exquisite 5 star destination, where a small handful of guests can step out of beautifully appointed beach villas into a world of powder sands, virginal reefs and secret coves.

Vamizi Island lies off the coast of northern Mozambique in the Quirimbas Archipelago. It remains one of the last pristine marine wilderness areas left in the Indian Ocean. After so many years, hidden from the outside world, Vamizi is now very quietly opening its doors to be explored for the first time, through the most careful balance of conservation and discreet tourism.

In the large bedrooms, a king-size 4 poster bed with billowing muslin mosquito nets and Egyptian cotton sheets welcomes one; whilst an assortment of sunloungers, planters chairs, peponi beds and Swahili swing beds make relaxing outside a pleasure.

Stretched along the beach the main dining room, bar and sitting room have all been created with open sitting areas and secluded corners. A sunset bar is located close to the water’s edge. The ocean holds the key to Vamizi’s main larder; the cuisine will reflect this by using the freshest local ingredients with Mediterranean and Indian Ocean flavours. The wine list is in part sourced from a French vineyard belonging to one of Vamizi’s owners.

For the more active, Vamizi Island Lodge offers snorkelling, diving, big game fishing, salt-water fly-fishing, mountain bike trails, birdwalks, dhow cruises and private picnics. Vamizi epitomises uncompromising quality with understated elegance it is barefoot luxury at its best.
