Rio Azul (Blue River) is situated on the Govuro River estuary 130km north of Vilanculos. Accommodation on Rio Azul consists of 6 2-bed chalets or 2 luxury villas that can house up to 6 adults and 6 children each.
These custom thatch and wooden buildings are right on the beach and steps from porches lead directly to the sand. Each one of these villas has their own dedicated estuary boat.
The main lodge and villas is built over water and has various areas where guests can relax in. There is a lounge, dining area, bar and plunge pool from where you can enjoy views over the estuary.
This is one of the only lodges where fly fishing is practiced and this can be combined with deep sea fishing and lure fishing. The start of the river mouth has deep water right at the edge and big game fish move into easy casting distance. The estuary offers many species of fish for light tackle fishing. Rio Azul operates a catch and release system.
We also suggest enjoying a sundowner cruise on a local dhow or taking your private boat out for a riverside picnic.

Daily flights to Vilanculos with Pelican Air, and flights on LAM four times a week. On arrival in Vilanculos you will be met & transferred by air-conditioned vehicle to Rio Azul. The resort is approx. 130 km north of Vilanculos and the road transfer takes approximately 2 hours.
