About Xai Xai

The town of Xai Xai is the capital of Gaza Province. It is located on the banks of the Limpopo river and lies 200km from Maputo. You can travel to Xai Xai by charter flight from Maputo or alternatively there is a good road from Maputo (EN 1) to Xai-Xai which connects with the roads from the Namaacha and Ressano Garcia borders. It is important to note that Xai-Xai town is 10km away from the beach (Praia).

The town itself bustles with markets, shops, restaurants, bars, petrol stations, banks and a post office. Xai Xai beach (Praia) is normally where holiday-goers choose to stay. One of the oldest hotels that survived the civil war is situated in Xai Xai, but you can also choose between camping sites and chalets. Most accommodation comes with mosquito nets, but don’t forget the insect repellents! Expect endless stretches of deserted beach, warm seas and fantastic weather year round.

We suggest a visit to Wenela Tidal Pool where a natural tunnel and blow hole links the pool to the sea. Deep sea fishing charters are another exciting activity, but you can choose shore fishing. Jet skiing and quad biking excursions can also be arranged. Some visitors claim that Xai Xai might just be the most beautiful place on earth. We know that it definitely is a tropical paradise!

Spend days working on your tan, relaxing in hammocks, picking coconuts, bartering for fresh avocados, body surfing or snorkelling in the clear lagoon. This beach is where you will find yourself again. A reef running parallel to the shore offers good snorkelling and diving experiences.
