Beach and Bush Mozambique

Combine a honeymoon or family reunion on an island in Mozambique with a few days on safari in the bush. Fly in to the Quirimbas Archipelago, then head straight from Pemba to the Gorongosa National Park or the breath-taking Niassa Wildlife Reserve. Or start in Ponta do Ouro or Ponta Mamoli, then do tours into Maputo Elephant Park, 50 kilometres away. Our consultants can help you to choose the best beach-bush holiday so click here for assistance.

It is best to stay in the Mozambique Quirimbas for at least five nights to get the most out of your sea and sand holiday. If you stay at Ibo Island Lodge, try a variety of water sports and indulge in life’s little luxuries such as dinner under the stars, deep sea diving to see coral reefs and dhow cruises to see other islands.

Once you have browned your skin and developed a taste for grilled lobster, pack your bags, get back to Pemba then on to Gorongosa National Park. Visitors usually fly in to the park’s own airstrip from Beira, Maputo, Vilanculos or its surrounding Bazaruto Archipelago resorts. It makes life much easier when you wait in Beira for the Gorongosa representative, who will assist you with your connecting flight or drive you to Kubatana Camp.

Spend time at this delightful camp which has exclusive rights to over 15,000 hectares of pristine wilderness – and you can go off the beaten track on your game drives and explore some very remote areas of the Park!

Another way to do the beach-bush thing is to start in South Africa from Durban and self-drive to Kosi Bay border post. Leave your car there and get a 4×4 transfer to Ponta Mamoli where you can find great accommodation to suit all kinds of budgets and needs. If you stay at the elegant White Pearl Resorts, you can arrange day trips to the Maputo Elephant reserve to see these majestic creatures in great numbers.

Or you can base yourself in Maputo’s Santa Maria village, about an hour away from the Park. Here you can camp or take a dhow to Inhaca Island for the holiday of a lifetime

Whatever your pleasure, make sure you get to see the best of Mozambique’s wildlife and beaches on your exclusive beach-bush holiday.
