Why go on holiday to Xai Xai

Why go on holiday to Xai Xai, of all the tempting Mozambique destinations to choose from? Xai Xai is the best place to do all the things you love in one destination, including special lodge or cabana accommodation right on the beach! Choose the right time to visit Praia de Xai Xai and observe the miraculous spectacle of newborn leatherback and loggerhead turtles scuttling down the sand to the safety of the tide. They will swim to the enormous coral reef that stretches for 5 km along the coast, creating safe inshore swimming for all ages in calm water shallows with stunning rock pools.

Swim with Whale sharks, surf the tides and walk for miles up the long white beaches. Or take a deep-sea fishing charter to hook that Big One. Jet skiing and quad biking excursions are also available while diving exceeds all expectations. The magnificent Chongoene Reef is 70 km offshore and ideal for deep sea fishing and anglers who dream of hooking huge barracuda.

Children will be thrilled to see Wenela, the natural underwater tidal pool, where an extraordinary blowhole bursts out of the ocean through an underwater channel under the reef. Be careful of swimming there at high tide! Other activities include birding, canoeing, paddle skiing and kitesurfing. Snorkelling is more popular than diving off the Xai Xai beach because it is easy, warm and so rewarding. Choose an experienced dive charter offering PADI courses and Scuba apparatus to explore the ocean further out to sea.
