What our guests are saying about their holidays to Mozambique

The grateful thanks we get from our guests when they have been to a Mozambique destination recommended by our consultants brings joy to our lives. Because going on holiday should be a happy time, a time for renewal and fun, for relaxation and special accommodation. We promote tempting family and honeymoon holiday packages because we know that these two breaks are probably the most special breaks you will ever experience – so why not experience them in Mozambique, African destination of tropical bliss?

Our speciality is to match you and your needs with a magical Mozambique destination that you will appreciate and never want to leave! This is what our guests are saying about their holidays at super beach or island hotels, lodges or villas:

This honeymoon couple booked a combo experience, spending a few nights at Ulala Lodge in Pemba, then flying to Ibo Island Lodge for their next few nights.

“We had such a fantastic time!Logistically, our honeymoon went like clockwork… no hitches, delays or problems. UlalaLodge was great – the chill zone there was perfect for recharging the batteries. George and staff were great.”

We love Ulala Lodge as it is located on an old coconut farm just 30 minutes outside of Pemba, in an area called Murrebue. It is here in northern Mozambique that visitors will find long white beaches and endless turquoise seas looking into the Quirimbas Archipelago! These lucky guests stayed in exclusive chalets built entirely from bamboo, coconut palms and teak -Ulala Lodge is a real ecolodge that also uses solar panels to produce hot water and windmills for electricity.

Water is recycled for sanitation and irrigation and the talented chef sources his fresh produce from the local markets and fresh fish from local fishermen. Ulala Lodge has its own beach restaurant and bar made from wood and bamboo and serving fresh seafood and refreshingly cold beverages.

“Ibo Island Lodge was incredible. The people, service, activities, diversity of scenery all get our 100% rating! I only wish that I had met Wilfred from the lodge sooner as he seemed to have the best knowledge about fishing options – I know now for next time! Thank you once again for all your help, assistance and guidance. I’ve already given your details to a friend who I think may be in contact with you shortly.”

Ibo Island Lodge is a charismatic Mozambique holiday hotel that is set amongst lush gardens planted with frangipani, bougainvillaea and palm trees. Three swimming pools offer respite from the heat while Bela Vista lounge boasts mesmerising views over the bay at high tide. A private dining room features an enormous solid teak banqueting table for parties or special occasions. Your honeymoon package to the island will reveal the secret sand bank beach and stunning Quirimbas mobile island hopping safaris.

Did you know that the island is steeped in ancient architecture, history and culture, and guided tours bring the fascinating legends alive? Add scuba diving and snorkelling, castaway beach picnics, guided sea kayaking, birding safaris, traditional dhow sailing, the mangrove forest experience, massage, romance and tranquillity to your honeymoon and your future together is sorted out!

Another happy couple who used our professional service at Mozambique Travel raved on about their holiday at Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort and Spa, a little piece of heaven on Bazaruto Island in the Bazaruto Archipelago.

“This place tops all the joints I have ever been!!! I must say, I always went to top hotels on our tours, never in a top lodge, which is so much nicer due to the more personalised attention. The attention to the smallest detail is simply amazing. The food was outstanding, in particular, the set menus prepared by a very helpful chef. The spa setting is phenomenal. The accommodation we were in must be the best position as far as view and walking distance goes! Finally, thanks for your professional attention and suggestions to arrange a most enjoyable holiday for us.”

In our experience, the staff at Anantara Bazaruto are always smiling and polite and supremely helpful. They love to create a fantasy beach barbeque for that special dinner under the stars, just for you. The food is excellent and you literally have to drag yourself away from the two infinity pools or the warm sea to try out the other activities. Windsurfing, water skiing, wakeboarding and boat trips to see the whales and dancing dolphins are some of the activities on offer. Round off sunny days catching the wind on board a traditional dhow for an exquisite sunset cruise over this sandy island that is called Bazaruto!

This goes to show as recent guests also had this to say about Anantara: “We are very happy with your service and the actual holiday. What I liked most was the ease of getting to a destination that felt a long way away from Johannesburg! All went very smoothly with flights and bookings and I was very impressed with the hotel, the food, and service. I am glad that we settled on Bazaruto- thanks for your assistance, we will certainly be in touch for our next holiday in Mozambique.”

Ibo Island gets the nod from a guest travelling alone who simply loved everything about the destination in the Quirimbas Archipelago and the lodge itself. “I have nothing but great things to say about my time here… from the dhow safari to the accommodation to the optional activities. I’d like to highlight the quality of service and attentiveness of the staff. They are what make the stay truly exceptional. Thank you for such a wonderful holiday experience. I will definitely be telling my friends and family about Ibo Island and the Lodge. Until we met again…”

This single guest raved about her room and its outdoor shower feature, giving it a quick five stars. She thought the best activity at Ibo is the picnic on the sand bank beach, a tidal beach which disappears when the tide comes in. She enjoyed the prawn curry and rice and seeing real Coconut crabs on nearby Mogundula Island. In a nutshell, this was one very happy guest who will be back again soon, we hope, to maybe catch an island hopping dhow safari?

Azura Boutique Retreats Benguerra Island is one of those Bazaruto Archipelago destinations that only get rave reviews, are loved for their professional service, their blissful settings and their range of things to do. Our guests returned from this world class island resort recently and they had this to say:

“We had a lovely time. The setting is very beautiful and getting to the island is a breeze…Johannesburg to Pemba in 2hours 50 minutes and a wonderful 25-minute helicopter ride in an EC120! The food was truly out of this world and we skipped a lunch or two simply because it was too much! Seafood lovers will especially appreciate the food.Privacy plays a big part and every evening your personal butler would set your dinner table in a different place. One can snorkel from the home beach on the “home reef” which is very convenient and pretty. The setting of the pool and bar area is very beautiful and there are beautiful trees on the island.”

Regular travellers have found Azura Benguerra to be, without fail, one of the most elegant beach lodges in the Archipelago, serving the most scrumptious food and promising the friendliest, slickest service from staff who smile all the while. It is also Mozambique’s first eco-boutique hotel which has been designed using environmental principles.

Subtle chic makes this hotel work – the private dining, the personal butler-hosts, the in-room massages to order and the combination of accommodation types for couples, families and groups of friends or business connections. It works! It wins awards!Guests can get involved in the island drive to learn more about the locals and their village way of life, the two-hour snorkelling trip to explore the coral reefs and the magical Island Hopping trip to explore the Bazaruto Archipelago.
