Why we Love Nkwichi

Tucked away in a secret spot leading to bright white beaches, and crystal clear fresh water.

Organic fruit and vegetables from locals are served with fresh fish from the lake.

Swing in a hammock or borrow diving and water sports gear from the hut on the beach.

Ecotourism principles focus on community involvement and environmental conservation.

Nkwichi Lodge Accommodation Lake Malawi

Nkwichi Lodge is one of those standout lodges offering adventurers into Africa unique eco-accommodation on dazzling Lake Malawi as part of exciting Mozambique travel packages. In fact, this lake accommodation is located on the Lake Niassa side of Lake Malawi in Mozambique territory and is one of our best-selling ‘beach’ and water activities destinations.

Nwichi Lodge remains unrivalled as a leading Mozambique holiday destination and we have great deals on packages for honeymoon couples and specials for family holidays. Welcome to luxury environmentally friendly accommodation in five rustic chic chalets and one lavish private house- all created as naturally as possible using local stone, bamboo and thatching grass. This low impact on nature means that everything is never permanent therefore not destructive. Solar panels power heat and light and waste is recycled or composted.

The Nkwichi Lodge chalets are individually named and decorated:

  • NIASSA: a utopia for couples blending into its authentic rock walls with a central attraction being the inspiring stairs taking you up to the bedroom – a beautiful remote space oozing romance, privacy in a dining area for two under a statuesque Baobab tree close to the main beach.
  • KUYA: right on the main beach in the trees and named after the visiting cormorants.  Private patio, outside toilet and spacious enough for an entire family.
  • SCOTLANDI: named after a Scottish volunteer by Nkwichi staff. Private dining area in the sand and unique open plan design on two levels with fabulous views.
  • LAKE OF STARS BED: a one-of-a-kind bed in the stars on an open platform – listen to the lake waters lapping waves and the penetrating silence.
  • NKWAZI: the regal African Fish Eagle visits the tree in front of this wonderful honeymoon suite -private beach, huge double doors, four-poster bed after a heart-shaped bath.
  • KAKOA: named after the White Egret which fishes in the waters before it, this chalet boasts its own dining area, outdoor bathroom and even a secret cave.
  • MAKOLO HOUSE: Kids can chill upstairs under the thatched roof, two bedrooms, private kitchen and beach for swimming and snorkelling, solar power.

Meet the friendly staff from the surrounding villages who built the lodge and supply it with their homegrown vegetables.
