Why we Love Nkwichi

Tucked away in a secret spot on Lake Niassa, this romantic Mozambique beach lodge has unrivalled access to bright white beaches, crystal clear fresh water with an incredible diversity of fish and the wilderness.
Meals are an event and highly individualised, guests can dine in a different setting every day.
Lake activities include Snorkelling, swimming, sailing, canoeing, island excursions and picnics.

Nkwichi Lodge Mozambique is famed as one of the best snorkelling spots on Lake Malawi! Organic fruit and vegetables picked straight from the farm are served with fresh fish from the lake. Guests can picnic on the beach under the starry African sky. Swing in a hammock or borrow diving and water sports equipment from the hut on the beach.

The main two-story building consists of a curio shop downstairs and a bar-cum-restaurant upstairs. Guests can enjoy the beach resorts and also sample delicious lunches and dinners on the picturesque platform on the beach.

Nkwichi Lodge Accommodation offered includes

NIASSA: as gorgeous as the lake itself, blending into its authentic rock walls with a central attraction being the inspiring stairs taking you up to the platform where you will sleep on the double. Remote space, romance, privacy in a dining area for two under a statuesque Baobab tree close to the main beach. Utopia for couples.

KUYA: right on the main beach in the trees and named after the cormorants which visit the area.  Private patio, outside loo and spacious enough for an entire family.

SCOTLANDI: An idyllic chalet named by after a Scottish volunteer by the staff of Nkwichi. Private dining area in the sand and surrounded by the lake wilderness. Enjoy the unique open plan design where two levels make the most of the fabulous views into the verdant vegetation and calming lake waters.

LAKE OF STARS’ BED: Book this one of a kind bed in the stars – revel in the nightly stars from Nkwichi’s starbed. See the reflection of the starry sky in the lake waters as you fall asleep to the music of the lapping waves and the pregnant silence.  You will never forget this Lake of Stars.

NKWAZI: Look out for the regal African Fish Eagle which often visits the tree in front of this room, hence its name. MAKOLO HOUSE: Completely private and away from the madding crowds, this accommodation offers an intimate break from the world. Peeping from the trees, it looks out over the lake, its high thatched roof joining living and sleeping rooms.
