How to get to Anantara Medjumbe Island

Anantara Medjumbe Island in the Quirimbas Archipelago Northern Mozambique is operated by the Anantara Group. Accessed via Pemba International Airport and a forty-five minute light aircraft hop to the island.

With daily flights from Johannesburg International on LAM and SA Airlink, Pemba Mozambique is easy to get to from South Africa. There are also twice weekly flights from Nairobi and Dar es Salaam. On arrival in Pemba, an English speaking Medjumbe Island representative will meet you and assist you with customs and immigration formalities. It’s a short walk to the light aircraft terminal from the main airport building. Then board what’s usually a Cessna Caravan for a forty-five-minute flight to Medjumbe.

The flight up to Medjumbe is spectacular. You will fly over the Quirimbas National Park and see the first eight islands of the archipelago from the air. Breathtaking views and if you are lucky you may be able to see a pod of Humpback Whales in the winter months from your window seat.
