The luxury Resort Rio Azul is nestled on the banks of the Guvoru River’s estuary, about 110 km north of Vilanculos and within proximity to the magnificent Bazaruto Marine National Park. The accommodation at Rio Azul consists of 6 twin chalets and 2 luxury villas which can comfortably accommodate 6 adults and 6 children each. All rooms are built using locally sourced materials including timber and thatch. The chalets and luxury villas are each appointed with a private motorised boat.
The chalets boast en-suite bathrooms and wooden decks overlooking the estuary. Each is equipped with two ¾ beds and mosquito nets. Each bathroom has double basins with mirrors, flush toilet plus a shower with hot and cold water.
The villas offer 3 en-suite bedrooms and a loft sleeping 6 children. Comfortable beds are draped with mosquito nets and there are digital safes for storing valuables. Each villa also features free flowing living rooms that lead out onto the deck where sun loungers and a private pool are situated.
The social hub of Rio Azul Lodge comprises a large lounge, dining room and bar area with a big wooden deck in front and a plunge pool. The lodge faces west and so enjoys fantastic sunset views. There is also a small shop where guests can purchase batteries, fishing tackle, hats, sunblock, sunglasses and shirts.
Vilanculos is a mecca for fishermen and divers and offers a lot of exciting adventure activities. There are plenty of water sports for guests to enjoy as well as land based activities such as horse riding, village tours and beach picnic.
