Inhaca Island, also known as Ilha da Inhaca in Portuguese is a subtropical paradise island just off the capital city Maputo. There is a wide array of accommodation on Inhaca to choose from and they are situated along the western and south western coastline. The portuguese island Inhaca is flanked by protected coral reefs that allow exceptional snorkeling and marine activities. Most of Portuguese Island Inhaca has been declared a marine reserve.

Getting to Inhaca Island
There is a daily ferry that docks at the recently refurbished Inhaca Pier which allows for easy access. Most of our guests opt for a quick 20-minute speedboat transfer to lodges like Villa Martins. These are organized by the hotels on a private basis.

Activities on Inhaca Island
One of the most popular excursions is a day trip to Portuguese Island from Inhaca. Expect miles of uninhabited sand spits at low tide and exceptional snorkeling on the reefs surrounding the island.
Inhaca is the ideal destination for guests wanting to scuba dive or snorkel the rich reefs nearby. This is easily arranged from your hotel. There are some great easy hiking trails including one to Inhaca lighthouse – and deep-sea fishing is in a class of its own.
