ABOUT

Luxury Eco Accommodation on the Gateway to the Island of Mozambique

Coral Lodge Mozambique is a five-star eco-luxury retreat set along the protected Nampula coastline, just a short boat journey from the historic Island of Mozambique. Positioned within the Varanda Conservation Area, the lodge offers guests rare access to pristine beaches, mangroves, and lagoons while remaining closely connected to one of Africa’s most important UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This unique location allows travelers to enjoy complete coastal seclusion paired with deep cultural discovery.

Unlike accommodation on the island itself, Coral Lodge offers space, silence, and immersion in nature, making it the ideal base from which to explore Ilha de Mozambique without sacrificing privacy or comfort. Days can be spent moving effortlessly between untouched natural landscapes and centuries-old architecture, maritime history, and living cultural traditions.

Accommodation

Eco-Luxury Villas in a Protected Coastal Reserve

Coral Lodge is built on ancient coral dunes overlooking the ocean and tranquil lagoon systems, with ten elegant villas carefully positioned to preserve the surrounding ecosystem. Five Beach Villas face the Indian Ocean, offering open sea views and cooling coastal breezes, while five Lagoon Villas overlook calm waters rich in birdlife and mangrove vegetation.

Two spacious family villas provide ideal accommodation for families or small groups, with two ensuite bedrooms, shared living areas, and expansive verandas. All villas feature high thatched roofs, stone-tiled floors, natural fittings, and handcrafted furnishings made from coconut wood and local hardwoods.

Modern comforts include air-conditioning, mosquito nets, minibars, tea and coffee stations, outdoor showers, freestanding stone baths, and private decks. Raised wooden walkways connect the villas to the main lodge, maintaining a low environmental footprint and enhancing privacy.

The open-air Reef Lounge bar and restaurant sits at the heart of Coral Lodge, overlooking the bay and capturing some of the most memorable sunsets on the northern Mozambican coast. Dining focuses on fresh seafood, locally sourced ingredients, and refined flavors served in a relaxed, elegant setting.

A circular infinity pool set on a wide deck provides a natural gathering point during the day, while the spa and activity center offer opportunities for relaxation and exploration. Activities Linking Nature and Culture

Coral Lodge activities are designed to connect guests with both the natural environment and the cultural heritage of the region. Experiences include dhow sundowner cruises, snorkeling, stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing, whale and dolphin watching in season, and guided tours of the Island of Mozambique.
