Kapama River Lodge is the largest of four properties in Kapama Private Game Reserve. It delivers a structured five-star safari with twice-daily game drives, comfortable accommodation and more facilities than a traditional small camp.

Its scale creates a lively, hotel-style atmosphere. This works well for families, friendship groups and travelers who appreciate swimming pools, generous public areas and a substantial wellness center. Couples seeking a quiet ten-room camp may prefer Kapama Buffalo Camp or another smaller Greater Kruger lodge.

The property remains surrounded by wildlife. Guests must follow lodge safety instructions and use an escort when moving between their suite and the main areas after dark.

Kapama River Lodge has recently updated and renamed several accommodation categories. Current options include Marula Suites, Leadwood Suites, Leadwood Family Suites, Tamboti Superior Suites and Royal Suites.

Marula and Leadwood Suites provide spacious, air-conditioned accommodation with full bathrooms, private patios and bush views. The newer Tamboti Superior Suites add generous contemporary interiors, private balconies and selected interleading configurations.

Leadwood Family Suites have an open-plan design for two adults and younger children. Families wanting separate bedrooms and bathrooms should request interleading Tamboti Superior Suites.

Royal Suites provide the lodge’s most spacious and romantic accommodation. They are best suited to honeymooners and couples celebrating a special occasion.

Older websites may still use former names such as Deluxe, Spa and Family Spa Suites. Mozambique Travel will verify the current room name, layout and photographs before confirming the reservation.

Safari Activities

Morning and afternoon safaris are included in the nightly rate. The second drive continues after sunset, creating opportunities to search for nocturnal wildlife.

Guided bush walks are also included, subject to availability, weather and safety. Participants must generally be at least 16 years old.

Children younger than six are not normally permitted on standard shared game drives. Kapama may arrange a shorter Bumble Drive after breakfast as an age-appropriate alternative.
