Our Sales Director, Lutfiya, and Senior Mozambique Specialist, Rushaan, inspected Saudade in June 2026. They were particularly impressed by the quality of the architecture, spacious accommodation, beachfront position and professional team behind the property.

Saudade can be booked by individual suite or reserved exclusively for a family or group. Neighboring Villa Coco provides a second option: a separate four-bedroom private villa available only on an exclusive-use basis.

Beachfront Living at Saudade Vilanculos

Saudade and Villa Coco occupy a beautiful position within the private Avia estate, approximately five kilometers north of Vilanculos.

Tropical gardens lead toward the beach, while the elevated living areas and pool overlook the ocean and islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago. The setting feels private without requiring a boat or helicopter transfer.

The beach is ideal for walking, relaxing and launching selected marine excursions when conditions allow. Swimming remains influenced by tides, wind and seasonal sea conditions.

Guests can spend much of the day around the property. The large covered veranda, infinity pool, gardens and ocean-facing living spaces provide enough room for couples or groups to relax without following an organized schedule.

Saudade works particularly well for travelers who want the convenience of the Vilanculos mainland but still expect a highly private beachfront experience.

Suites at Saudade Vilanculos

Saudade offers six individually designed en-suite accommodations rather than a row of identical hotel rooms.

The Premier Suite is the most spacious option for couples. It includes a king bed, private internal lounge, large bathroom and its own ocean-facing sun deck.

Two Main Suites also have king beds, internal seating areas and direct access to the tropical garden and pool. Additional queen-bedded suites offer their own layouts, including private courtyards, outdoor showers or ocean views according to the category.

The family accommodation expands the property’s capacity when Saudade is booked exclusively. Its queen and single-bed arrangement provides a more practical space for children and teenagers traveling as part of a larger group.

All suites are air-conditioned and individually finished with natural textures, handmade details and locally produced elements. The design feels contemporary but remains connected to Mozambique’s coastal landscape and seafaring culture.

Because every suite differs, Mozambique Travel will match the accommodation to the traveler rather than simply assigning whichever room remains available.

Bazaruto Archipelago Activities

Boat trips into the Bazaruto Archipelago can be arranged from Saudade, with collection from the beach possible when tides and conditions allow.

A typical excursion may include snorkeling, island visits, sandbanks and a prepared beach picnic. The final route depends on the operator, weather and sea conditions.

Scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, dhow trips, horse riding, kitesurfing and scenic helicopter flights can also be arranged through specialist operators. These experiences usually cost extra.

The Indigo Seahorse Adventure offers a more locally connected alternative. This guided community experience explores the shallow seagrass habitat near Vilanculos by traditional dhow and supports alternative local livelihoods. Wildlife sightings remain natural and cannot be guaranteed.

We recommend planning one or two priority activities while preserving enough time to enjoy the beach, pool and property.

Two Ways to Stay at Saudade

Saudade should not be presented as a conventional hotel or as one private villa. It offers both possibilities.

Individual suites can be booked by couples, honeymooners and smaller traveling parties. Guests share the beautifully designed living, dining, garden and pool areas while retaining the intimacy of a property with only six suites.

For families, friends or multigenerational groups, the complete Saudade property can be reserved exclusively. This provides private use of the accommodation and central facilities, with the staff, meals and daily service arranged around the group.

Exclusive use is also the appropriate option for families traveling with younger children. The family accommodation and final occupancy must be checked according to the number and ages of the children.

Villa Coco is the neighboring four-bedroom private villa within the wider Saudade Collection. It is not an additional room category at Saudade and should always be explained as a separate exclusive-use property.

Mozambique Travel will compare individual suites, a complete Saudade buyout and Villa Coco before recommending the best arrangement.

Villa Coco, the Private-Villa Option

Villa Coco is a separate four-bedroom beachfront home located beside Saudade. It is available only for exclusive use and is particularly well suited to families and small groups.

Three en-suite bedrooms have king beds, air-conditioning and outdoor showers. The fourth bedroom has a double bed and bunk bed, providing a practical option for children.

The villa can accommodate up to eight adults or six adults and four children under 16, subject to the confirmed package and room arrangement. Children of all ages are welcome when Villa Coco is reserved privately.

Open living and dining areas face the tropical garden, pool and ocean. Meals are prepared for the group, while housekeeping, Vilanculos Airport transfers, soft drinks, water and selected alcoholic beverages may be included according to the booked rate.

Villa Coco offers more than the keys to a self-catering house. Guests receive the privacy of an exclusive villa with professional staffing and support throughout the stay.

Who Should Book Saudade or Villa Coco?

Individual suites at Saudade are best for couples and honeymooners wanting a stylish, intimate lodge without booking an entire property.

Exclusive use of Saudade is the strongest option for larger families, friends and multigenerational groups who want six suites, generous shared spaces and complete privacy. It may also suit a small celebration or milestone holiday.

Villa Coco works better for a smaller group wanting a relaxed private home with four bedrooms and space for younger children.

Neither property should be sold only on capacity. The correct choice also depends on the group’s ages, preferred meal plan, required privacy and expectations of service.

Mozambique Travel’s June inspection allows us to explain how the properties differ in atmosphere and layout. Our confirmed December buyout also gives us direct experience of the booking process required for exclusive use.
