Leopard Hills is located in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, an unfenced private reserve adjoining Kruger National Park
Leopard Hills delivers privacy without separating guests from the landscape. The suites are positioned along a rocky ridge, while the main lodge overlooks a waterhole visited by wildlife. Game viewing can therefore continue during breakfast, lunch or the quieter hours between safari activities.
The small number of guests supports attentive service and a calm atmosphere. Couples have their own suite, deck and plunge pool, but can still enjoy shared dining, the bar, wine cellar, spa and traditional boma.
We also value Leopard Hills for its safari fundamentals. Professional rangers and trackers explore a private Sabi Sand traversing area known for leopards, lions and other members of the Big Five. Vehicles may leave established tracks when reserve conditions and wildlife protocols allow, creating photographic opportunities that are not normally possible on Kruger National Park’s public roads.
Most importantly for Mozambique Travel, Leopard Hills can be connected with three very different coastal experiences. Travelers can follow their safari with Santorini Mozambique in Vilanculos, Azura Benguerra or Azura Marlin, rather than being directed automatically toward one generic beach extension.

Leopard Hills can be combined with three distinctly different Mozambique beach experiences: Santorini Mozambique in Vilanculos, Azura Benguerra and Azura Marlin on Benguerra Island.
The existing Leopard Hills and Azura Benguerra package is particularly well suited to honeymoons, anniversaries and milestone journeys. It combines the privacy of an eight-suite Sabi Sand lodge, individual plunge pools and exceptional wildlife viewing with a secluded private-island villa in the Bazaruto Archipelago.
Santorini Mozambique provides a mainland alternative for travelers who want luxury, highly personalized hospitality and simpler road access from Vilanculos Airport. Azura Marlin offers a smaller-scale Benguerra option with an intimate beachfront atmosphere and helicopter arrival.
Four nights at Leopard Hills are preferable when it is the principal safari stay. Three nights can work within a longer multi-lodge itinerary. Mozambique Travel compares the safari duration, preferred coastal property and regional flights before confirming the complete journey.

MOZAMBIQUE TRAVEL
Eight glass-fronted suites each offer a private plunge pool, outdoor deck and wide views across the surrounding Sabi Sand bush.
A maximum of 16 guests supports attentive service and a calm lodge atmosphere, complemented by shared dining, a spa, wine cellar and traditional boma.
Professional rangers and trackers explore private Sabi Sand traversing areas renowned for leopard sightings, Big Five wildlife and strong photographic opportunities.
Use the nearby Ulusaba airstrip or regional road and air connections towards Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport for onward travel to Vilanculos.

Leopard Hills is a five-star safari lodge in the western sector of the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, adjoining Kruger National Park. Its elevated position overlooks a natural waterhole and more than 10,000 hectares of private traversing area, including riverine woodland and open savanna.
With only eight suites and a maximum of 16 guests, the lodge provides a more personal safari experience than larger Greater Kruger properties. Each glass-fronted suite has a private plunge pool, outdoor deck and wide views across the surrounding bush.
Leopard Hills is particularly well suited to couples, honeymooners and travelers celebrating an anniversary or milestone. Its wildlife viewing, private accommodation and access to regional airports also make it one of Mozambique Travel’s most important safari partners for journeys continuing to Vilanculos or the Bazaruto Archipelago.
Each Leopard Hills suite is air-conditioned and designed for two guests. Floor-to-ceiling glass keeps the landscape visible from inside, while the private deck and plunge pool provide a secluded place to rest between drives.
The spacious interiors include a lounge area, king-size or twin beds and an en-suite bathroom. Indoor and outdoor showers overlook the bush, allowing the setting to remain part of the experience without compromising comfort.
All eight suites offer the same essential accommodation concept, so guests do not need to navigate numerous villa categories. The most important considerations are availability, position, preferred bed configuration and whether the open bathroom and private pool layout suit the travelers.
Leopard Hills does not have triple suites. Families and groups must therefore book the correct number of separate suites, and every child’s age must be provided before a quotation is finalized.

Morning and late-afternoon game drives are conducted in open safari vehicles with individual seats. Rangers and trackers use fresh signs, animal behavior and their knowledge of the western Sabi Sand to locate wildlife and interpret what guests are seeing.
The reserve is particularly well known for leopards that have become accustomed to safari vehicles. Lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, wild dogs, hyenas and a wide variety of plains game may also be encountered. Sightings remain natural and cannot be guaranteed.
Off-road access can allow the guide to follow selected animals beyond the established tracks. Vehicle numbers at sensitive sightings are controlled, helping guests spend meaningful time observing behavior rather than simply arriving, taking a photograph and moving on.
Leopard Hills is a strong choice for wildlife photographers. A private safari vehicle can be requested at an additional cost, subject to availability, when guests want more control over positioning, timing and the length of each sighting.
Children under ten are not normally accepted at Leopard Hills unless one group books the entire lodge. This protects the quiet atmosphere and reflects the open nature of the property and its safari activities.
Children aged ten and older can stay, but there are no triple suites. Families must reserve separate accommodation according to the number and ages of the travelers. Children under 16 cannot participate in guided walking safaris.
Leopard Hills is therefore not our first recommendation for families with young children. It is better suited to couples, older families and multi-generational groups prepared to book several suites or consider exclusive use.
The eight-suite layout can be particularly valuable for a private celebration or extended family group. Exclusive use allows one party to control the lodge atmosphere more fully, although vehicles, activities and child participation remain subject to safety rules.
Leopard Hills and Santorini Mozambique
Santorini Mozambique is the most practical of the three premium coastal pairings. It is reached by road from Vilanculos Airport, avoiding an additional island transfer. The cliff-top setting, individually styled suites, private hosts and views across the Bazaruto Archipelago suit couples who want highly personalized service with mainland flexibility.
This combination works well when travelers want luxury, marine excursions and privacy but prefer to remain close to Vilanculos. It is also easier to combine with restaurants, mainland activities or a shorter beach stay.
Leopard Hills and Azura Benguerra
Azura Benguerra is the established private-island choice. Guests normally fly from Vilanculos to Benguerra Island by helicopter, creating a dramatic transition from the Sabi Sand bush to the Bazaruto Archipelago.
Private villas, plunge pools, personalized hosting and extensive island and marine activities make this the strongest pairing for honeymoons, anniversaries and once-in-a-lifetime celebrations. It carries a higher overall cost, but it provides the greatest sense of separation and private-island escape.
Leopard Hills and Azura Marlin
Azura Marlin offers a smaller-scale alternative on Benguerra Island. It suits couples who want an intimate beachfront atmosphere and a fresh boutique identity rather than the broader villa selection and more established experience at Azura Benguerra.
This pairing retains the helicopter arrival, Benguerra setting and access to marine activities. It should be considered separately from Azura Benguerra rather than presented as an interchangeable Azura product.
When we recommend Leopard Hills, it is usually to couples, honeymooners and experienced travelers who want the safari itself to be one of the defining parts of their holiday. The lodge works particularly well when privacy matters, with only eight suites, individual plunge pools and enough time between drives to enjoy the waterhole and surrounding bush.
We would also consider Leopard Hills for photographers, anniversary trips and small groups prepared to reserve separate suites. Four nights is our preferred length of stay because it gives guests more than one chance to follow changing predator movements and prevents an expensive safari from feeling rushed.
We would not recommend Leopard Hills automatically to every traveler. Families with children under ten, guests needing triple accommodation and travelers who prefer a larger lodge with a children’s program should consider another Greater Kruger property. We would rather recommend the right lodge than place someone at Leopard Hills simply because it is prestigious.
The Mozambique choice is equally personal. Santorini suits guests wanting highly attentive mainland hospitality and easy Vilanculos access. Azura Benguerra is our established private-island recommendation for major celebrations, while Azura Marlin offers a smaller and more intimate Benguerra experience.

Tell us what you want this journey to feel like, whether that means exceptional leopard sightings, quiet time beside your private pool, a helicopter arrival on Benguerra or the flexibility of staying in Vilanculos. After 25 years of planning Mozambique holidays, we know that the success of a safari and beach itinerary depends on matching the people, properties, flights and pace, not simply joining two impressive lodges. Let our specialists compare Leopard Hills with the right Mozambique stay and build a 2026 journey that feels personal from the first game drive to the final morning beside the Indian Ocean.

Mozambique Travel has 25 years of experience arranging safari and beach journeys across Southern Africa and Mozambique. These frequently asked questions cover getting to Leopard Hills, accommodation, safari experiences, inclusions, the best time to visit and combining the Sabi Sand with a Mozambique beach holiday.
Leopard Hills is located in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, a private reserve adjoining Kruger National Park with no internal fencing. This allows wildlife to move freely while guides benefit from off road driving and flexible safari rules. Sabi Sand is particularly well known for consistent predator sightings, including leopard, making it one of the most reliable safari regions in Southern Africa.
Three nights at Leopard Hills allows for varied safari conditions and strong wildlife viewing, while four nights provides additional flexibility and a more relaxed pace. This ensures the safari feels complete before transitioning to the islands, allowing the beach portion of the holiday to feel restorative rather than simply a continuation of travel.
Yes. While it is especially appealing to experienced safari guests, first time travellers benefit from excellent guiding, consistent wildlife sightings, and a calm lodge atmosphere. When combined with a Mozambique island stay, it creates a well balanced introduction to both safari and Indian Ocean travel.
