This five-night Ponta Membene family package combines independent chalet accommodation, beach access and time in one of southern Mozambique’s most varied protected landscapes. Set between coastal forest and the Indian Ocean, Ponta Membene gives families space to enjoy the beach, swimming pool, wildlife areas, lakes and communal facilities without the cost or fixed schedule of a premium safari lodge.

The package is based on two adults and two children sharing a Two-Bedroom Dune or Forest Chalet. Each chalet includes a kitchen, open-plan living and dining space, private bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers and an individual braai area. Mozambique Travel sells the chalets rather than the Ponta Membene campsites.

Greater Independence, Better Value

Ponta Membene is not a conventional fully inclusive safari lodge with a children’s club and twice-daily game drives. It is a spacious, flexible family stay in a protected coastal wilderness, with meals and one guided activity included subject to final supplier confirmation.

Choose a Dune or Forest Chalet

Dune Chalets offer convenient beach access and a stronger coastal atmosphere, while Forest Chalets are set among more sheltered vegetation. Neither chalet category has air conditioning; fans and natural ventilation are provided. The kitchen is useful for children’s snacks and simple lunches, although families should bring sufficient food, drinks and drinking water because there is no nearby supermarket.

Beach, Wildlife and Park Time

One guided park activity is included, subject to confirmation. It may explore forest, lakes, grassland and coastal areas rather than operating as a conventional Big Five game drive. Families can also enjoy the beach, communal swimming pool, birding and walks in permitted areas. Wildlife may include elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, antelope, hippos, crocodiles and prolific birdlife, but sightings cannot be guaranteed.

4x4 Access Through Futi Gate

A suitable 4x4 is mandatory for the sandy route between Futi Gate and Ponta Membene. Families with a high-clearance 4x4 can drive independently; those arriving in an ordinary vehicle can use a prebooked lodge transfer from the agreed Futi Gate collection point. Gate times, parking, collection arrangements and luggage requirements must be confirmed before travel.

Spend the morning on the beach, cool off in the pool, explore a different part of the park or simply enjoy time together in your chalet. Five nights provide enough time to settle into the rhythms of a remote coastal wilderness without needing to fill every day with an activity.

Ponta Membene Family Package Price

From R31,195 per family, based on two adults and two children sharing a Two-Bedroom Dune or Forest Chalet. Approximate alternative prices are US$1,700 and €1,450 per family. The advertised rate requires supplier confirmation, and the final cost will depend on children’s ages, selected chalet, meal arrangement, transfers, park and conservation fees, and travel dates. Flights and transport to Futi Gate are excluded.
